Ben Abud

Audio Engineer

Ben Abud’s upbringing was surrounded with music. Before he ever got into audio engineering, he was finding his identity through playing the trumpet, piano, and flute. This deep-seated musicality eventually found its pulse in the underground techno and house scenes of Detroit and Chicago, where he started producing and DJing electronic and bass music.

Ben discovered his passion for being holistically involved in audio projects, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Music Technology from Columbia College Chicago. His professional journey began as an intern at Squeak E Clean Studios, and currently works as an Audio Engineer and Sound Designer.

With an emphasis on attention to detail, Ben has become a go-to collaborator for high-stakes projects, bringing a sharp technical ear and an editor’s intuition to brands including Samsung, Adidas, Heinz x DJ Mustard, Google, BMW, US Open, and Beyond Yoga x Issa Rae. With his experience in engineering and producing music, he makes a conscious effort to treat sound design and music editing as an art form.

Ben’s skillset is constantly fueled by his work as an artist under the moniker oneDEFECT. Immersed in the world of underground and experimental electronic and bass music, he uses his personal projects to develop new ways of creating that are eventually implemented into his professional workflow. He ensures that every project - regardless of the brand - possesses a unique sonic identity that captures and holds the viewer’s attention.

Whether he is recording, sound designing, music editing, or mixing, Ben’s goal remains the same: to provide a collaborative, confident environment where clients feel heard and the final product is nothing short of a premium sonic experience.
