Check out the Squeak E. Clean blog!
This super spiffy digital weblog includes contributions by the crew at the Squeak E. Clean headquarters, our friends like DJ Zegon of N.A.S.A., and a very loyal army of interns. Tune in to check out N.A.S.A. remixes, news from the front lines of our studio and some funny stuff (like intern Alf Alpha’s recap of our participation in Adidas’ AdiCup soccer tournament last weekend, where he almost beat up Vinnie Jones). We’ll have contributions by director Spike Jonze, who just posted a never-before-seen vampire movie (you have to dig deeply to find it)! And one regular column you definitely won’t want to miss is Cheeba’s “CD Cover of the Week.” Squeak E. Clean blog

Our friends at Vice Magazine also have launched their own online programming network, VBS, February 1st. They just can't get enough of our jams and we feel the same about their hilariously brash and insightful content. Check it out at www.vbs.tv.

LEAVIN' ON A JETPLANE - Having just returned from dj'ing a blissful afternoon set for Coachella, Sam is once again packing his bags full of underoos and party tunes (or, as the pros call 'em, "pajama jammy jams"). This time his laptop brings him to England to DJ the exclusive after party for All Tomorrow's Parties (www.atpfestival.com). The 3 day music festival, with each day's lineup chosen by and including Mudhoney, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Devendra Banhart respectively, takes place this weekend near the seaside town of Rye. T-MINUS AND COUNTING - With "Show Your Bones" rocketing up the charts NASA is now officially gearing up for liftoff. Sam is travelling up and down the Americas signing up vocal talent for his exotic collaboration with Brazilian DJ Zegon. New NAS-tronauts include the oringal dirty south gangsta rapper Bushwick Bill of the Geto Boys (whose visit to the studio last week can be seen in the pics section), Brazilian superstar Seu Jorge (familiar to many Americans for his performance in Wes Anderson's wonderful "The Life Aquatic"), and none other than the legendary art funk singer David Byrne of The Talking Heads (and founder of the renowned world beat reissue label Luaka Bop)! BARING IT ALL - "Show Your Bones" finally arrives in stores today and is being snatched off the shelves by pasty emaciated fans (and those whose moms wouldn't drive them to the record shop are reportedly keeping the iTunes elves busy as well). Early reviews in NME, Spin, and Rolling Stone praise the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' second album, with some already calling it "Album Of The Year." In other rag news, Sam is featured in Paper Magazine's "Beautiful People" issue (no, seriously) and the inner workings of Crack Alley Studios are revealed in the newest issue of RES magazine. Also, if you want to see Sam really showing some skin go to the official Squeak E. Clean myspace page and give us a holler (www.myspace.com/squeakeclean). Lastly, Austin homeboys Oliver Future (whose EP "Bear Chronicles VII" was produced by Squeak E. Clean stalwarts Koool G Murder and Brent Nichols in The 'Alley) have been drawing a lot of buzz lately from the likes of Indie 103.1 FM and Entertainment Weekly. Download their new single "San Francisco Song" for free (limited time only) off of www.ew.com/downloads!

GOLD LION UNLEASHED! "Gold Lion," the Yeah Yeah Yeahs brand spanking new single, has hit the airwaves at long last. The full LP "Show Your Bones" hits stores Tuesday March 28th.

SOMETHING NEW! After writing a track for a Mars Bars advertisement that aired this fall in the UK and Ireland, requests poured in from across the pond to make the song available for general music fans. Having already encountered a similar phenomenon with "Hello Tomorrow," Squeak E. Clean promptly recorded a full length version of the song, "Something New" feat. LA singer/songwriter Jon Darling, and plan to release it online. Look for the song, as well other sought-after Squeak E. Clean tracks like the score from "Yeah Right!" and Spike Jonze DVD Collection, to be on iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody, Emusic, and more!

Sam is also currently doing an album with hip-hop runaways Fatlip and Slim Kid Tre who’ve split off from the Pharcyde and started Edy Crahp (Pharcyde backwards). Edy Crahp will be pooping on your neighborhood fire hydrants most likely in 2006.

Sam’s own group NASA is putting the finishing touches on their album as well. NASA, (short for North America/South America) is a collaboration between Dj Squeak E. Clean and Dj Zegon of Sao Paulo, Brazil. The tracks are comprised of old Brazilian funk breaks and samples with special guests galore doing vocals and additional instrumentation. The first single will feature Fatlip, Karen O. of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and one of the final recordings of Ol’ Dirty Bastard before his untimely passing in late 2004.

Sam scored the music to the Korean animation film “Sky Blue” in late 2004. It is currently playing in select theatres. Check your local listing for show times and locations. Sam is currently preparing an orchestral jazz score for “Pretty Things” an HBO original movie about Burlesque Dancers and the art form as a whole.

Sam produced a 12” with Guru and 2Mex for Dim Mak/Squeak E. Clean Records. Guru contributed “U Lose/I Win” and 2Mex contributed “Once Again” for what turned out to be a tasty record. Both selections will be featured on a Squeak E. Clean sampler- a genre spanning compilation that will highlight some of Sam’s favorite projects.

In spring of 2004, Sam recorded an entire album with Ben Lee entitled “A Mix-tape from Ben”. Guests include Kylie Mongoose, The Eels, The Cardigans, Gomez, Zoë Dashanel, the Sleepy Jackson, Sean Lennon, and Har-Mar Superstar among others. The album is completed and is slated for release in early 2005.

We’ve been on TV quite a bit selling everything from cars to sneakers. Some of our favorites include the “Crazy Legs” Levis commercial (February 2002), Reebok “Outperfrom” (November 2003), the Saturn “Door Music” commercial (March 2004), and a brand new Adidas commercial featuring Karen O (January 2005) to name a few.
